- Description
- The Regional Health Contracting Office - Pacific intends to make a sole source award to Mamava, Inc. for the purpose of Breastfeeding Lactation Pods and shipping to MEDDAC-Korea, Yongsan. The Mamava® breastfeeding pod helps MEDDAC, Korea comply with the mandate of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Affordable Care Act to provide a safe, secure space -not a bathroom-for women to pump during the work day. The Mamava freestanding accommodation for nursing and/or pumping will be placed in the center of the MEDDAC, Korea clinic and will be utilized by both patients and employees. There is currently no accommodation for breastfeeding mothers who need to nurse and/or pump. This product will help meet mission requirements mandated for both employees and patients. The Mamava breastfeeding pod is also equipped with a retractable caster system that is required for mobility. In the event that the lactation pods need to be moved to accommodate the clinic's set-up, this pod will be still be able to be accessed by breastfeeding mothers. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 1901, as cited in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other suppliers or services will satisfy agency requirements. This announcement fulfills the synopsis requirements under FAR 5.201 and 5.203. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government.
