- VA786-17-R-0537, Amendment A00001 Questions and Answers: Is a bid bond required for this project? Answer: No Will plans be provided for this work? Answer: No What is the cause of this project leaking pipes, root intrusions, deteriorating pipes, etc.? Answer: Leaking Pipes, the Government did notice some small root intrusions at pipe joints. Page 10, 1.12 states that water will be made available. This is a hydrant connection? Will an air gap at the water tank be an acceptable substitute to the backflow preventer? Answer: Follow local, state and national codes for plumbing. Do the cemetery roads have a defined weight limit for construction vehicles? Answer: The cemetery s heaviest vehicle is the water truck which weighs approximately 26,000 LBS full. The Government is not sure what the bridges are rated for, so please avoid anything heavier than that in the Cemetery. Who is to operate and maintain low flow levels at the two pump stations during the Contractor s operations? Answer: This should be the contractor s responsibility. Are there any existing videos of the inside of the pipe? Answer: No Is there a map or drawing of the existing piping? Answer: No, however bidders are encouraged to survey the site by coordinating with the cemetery director for access. Are there any lines connecting to the pipe that is being lined? Answer: Not in the area s to be repaired. Is the existing lined plugged? Answer: Assume for bidding purposes that yes they are plugged and need to be cleaned out. Where is the access points/Manholes located? Answer: Shelter #2, East side of Section 9A, had manholes for access along with a lift station for access. The other area to be repaired was along Biddle road. The cemetery has a manhole for access Northwest of Shelter #1 along Biddle road and another lift station directly across the street. The cemetery believes that the longest stretch from access point to access point was no more than 250 and they were straight runs.
