Description
This Small Business Sources Sought Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by the Government. This notice is intended strictly for Market Research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Eunice Kennedy Shriver, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and technical capability of qualified small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business or HUBZone small businesses capable of providing an Imager 600RGB system. The NIDDK uses high-throughput tools, including ribosome profiling and mRNA-Seq to study the mechanism of gene expression regulation at the translational level. NIDDK employ these tools to uncover the functions of proteins and nucleic acids that regulate the ability of ribosomes to reinitiate new translation in 3'UTRs following translation of canonical coding sequences. This process maybe critical during times of nutrient starvation or viral infection. To understand the mechanism of this better, we are planning to knock them out in human cell lines using the CRISPR system. This imager specifically fulfills our needs as it is able to image UV fluorescence, chemiluminescence, and bright light exposures. It has a camera capable of taking full size images that can then be printed at actual size to make a template for precise cuts for gel excisions, a capability that we have not found with competing style imagers on the market for the price we are looking to spend. This instrument condenses the purchase of two separate expensive pieces of equipment (nucleic acid imager and protein blot imager)into one that fulfills all lab needs, thus saving money and precious lab space. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 334516 with a size standard of 1000. All respondents are requested to identify their firm's size and type of business. Interested firms responding to this market survey must provide (a) capability statement demonstrating their experience, skills and capability to fulfill the Government's requirements for the above. The capability statement shall be in sufficient enough detail, but not to exceed 15 pages, so that the Government can determine the experience and capability of your firm to provide the requirements above. Your capability statement, not to exceed 15 pages, should include references. Capability statement must be received at 6710B Rockledge Drive, Room 1155A, Bethesda, MD 20817 by 11:00 A.M. local time on July 17, 2017. Any questions regarding this announcement must be sent via email to verne.griffin@.nih.gov and must include solicitation NICHD17133 in the subject line of email. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited.
