- Sources Sought Notice The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO 6) for the Durham VA Medical Center is conducting market research through this Sources Sought Notice for information related to vendors capable of providing a fully automated blood culture detection system through a cost-per-test or reagent rental agreement. System must be FDA 510(k) approved and CAP standard MIC.22640 compliant. Blood culture (BC) is the gold standard for detection of bacteria and fungi from blood or other normally sterile body fluids. Bloodstream infections remain a leading cause of death and are associated with high mortality and morbidity. Rapid detection and identification of the causing pathogen are therefore essential in the diagnosis of invasive diseases. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this acquisition is 325413, with a Classification code of 6640. This is not a request for bids, quotes, or proposals. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified businesses. The responses to this announcement will assist in socio-economic set-aside feasible. The Veterans Administration is required by Public Law 104-9 to give first priority to SDVOSB and VOSB concerns if there should be sufficient firms available to compete enter a set-aside. If insufficient veteran-owned and small business responses are received to establish the basis for setting this action aside for other than large business participation, then the action will be advertised as full and open competition, in which case, all interested parties responding shall be eligible to bid. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary, and all information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. This notice is for informational and planning purposes only, and does not constitute a solicitation or a commitment by the Government to later publish a solicitation. Interested parties should submit with their response the following information no later than 10:00 AM EST July 20, 2017 and include POC information, business size, and business SBA classification(s).
