- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul, Minnesota District has a requirement entitled: the Upper St. Anthony Falls (USAF) lock and dam tainter gate operating machinery replacement project. The work site is in Minneapolis, MN (Hennepin County). Using USACE supplied plans and specifications, the contractor will accomplish the following summary Scope of Work: This work involves replacement of the tainter gate operating machinery at the USAF lock and dam. The tainter gate itself will remain in place. The scope includes a new mechanical lifting system for the gate to replace the existing hydraulic cylinder operating system. New independent hoist units shall be installed on each side of the gate. The existing hydraulic cylinders, cross head, and hydraulic lines shall be abandoned in place but all hydraulic fluid shall be drained from the system. The existing wire rope and controls shall be removed and replaced. New buildings shall be installed over the new hoist units to match the existing architecture of the site. New electrical wiring, controls, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) shall be installed for operating the hoist system. Optional work items may include painting the tainter gate, painting the upper miter gates, and installing sluice gates in the upper miter gates. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this project is 237990; Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction with a size standard of $36.5M. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000; the contract will require 100% performance and payment bonds. No CD's or hard copies will be available.
