Description
Statement of Work for Tucker Davis Technologies Workstations Description The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), Section on Sensory Cells and Circuits, plans to procure on a sole source basis two (2) Z-Series 2-DSP Fiber Photometry Workstations, manufactured by Tucker Davis Technologies, 11930 Research Circle, Alachua, FL 32615. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b) (1) and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334519 and the business size standard is 500 employees. Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. Delivery shall be made within 8-10 weeks after receipt of award. It has been determined there are no opportunities to acquire green products or services for this procurement. Tucker Davis Fiber Photometry Workstation: Z-Series 2-DSP The Section on Sensory Cells and Circuits at the National Center for Complementary & Integrative Health aims to monitor the activity of cells during relevant behaviors to understand neural circuits. In their research, they study mice as a model system to understand how somatosensory stimuli (touch, temperature, chemicals) are encoded. Recent advances in genetically encoded florescent sensors has created the ability to record the responses of defined cell types in specific anatomical locations. Fiber photometry is ideally suited for their experimental question. In these experiments, genetically-encoded sensory are expressed in specific cell types at defined anatomical locations using stereotaxic injection of viral vectors in genetically modified mice. The Section next installs optical fibers that are illuminated using high power fiber coupled LEDS. Then, the Section requires a system to control the LEDs, record the analog inputs from the photodetectors and analyze the data in real time. Specifically, they require a fiber photometry system with the following parameters: · Suitable analog inputs and outputs to control their choice of LED or laser drivers, and receive the fiber photometry feedback from their choice of photosensor. · The ability to control multiple drivers and photosensors at once, including the ability to run two animals at once with up to two drivers per animal. · The ability to integrate behavioral devices with the system with a high level of temporal precision. · The ability to integrate simple video recording (with integrated playback of video alongside the recorded physiological data) with up to two cameras at once. · The flexibility to expand the system for other modalities, such as electrophysiology, to allow comparability among different methods and to extend the long-term usefulness of the system. · The ability to do custom processing of the signal in real-time. · The ability to do closed-loop control for dynamic experiments that can modulate and control stimulation and behavioral devices based on the behavior of physiological response of the subject. · The ability to integrate with Matlab for both data analysis and real-time control. This notice is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party, especially small businesses, believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform the requirement. Responses must be received in the contracting office by 11:00 AM EDT, on July 26, 2017. All responses and questions must be in writing and emailed to Kelly Dempsey, Contracting Officer via electronic mail at kelly.dempsey@nih.gov. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to receive an award, contractors must be registered and have valid certification in the System for Award Management (www.sam.gov). Reference: N02AT77025-91on all correspondence.
