- SUCCESSFUL RESPONDENTS TO THIS SOLICITATION SHALL PROVIDE A PROPOSAL IN ACCORDANCE BELOW. ALL QUESTIONS REGARDING THE CONTENTS OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT SHOULD BE MADE TO THE PRIMARY POINT OF CONTACT STATED IN THIS SOLICITATION NO LATER THAN 7/21/2017 AT 2:00 P.M. FAR 52.211-6 APPLIES TO THIS SOLICITATION AND ITS SUBSEQUENT AWARD. BEA, as the nation's accountant and one of the world's leading statistical agencies, collects source data, conducts research and analysis, develops and implements estimation methodologies and disseminates statistics to the public. In this role, BEA collects source data from many specific sectors of the economy. It is important that BEA continually strives to develop new and improved source data to develop improved measures of Nonresidential Fixed Investment, specifically to develop price deflators for commercial purchases of ICT goods, where the rapid pace of product innovation poses challenges to standard methods for price indexes. Moreover, a major initiative in BEAs Strategic Plan is to explore data sources that would allow improvements of the price deflators used in the accounts to deflate high-technology goods like medical equipment. The objective of this procurement is to obtain historical data on price quotes for medical equipment for the purpose of improving the estimation of Nonresidential Fixed Investment in the national accounts. Section 2- Statement of wORK BEA is the nation's economic accountant, producing measures such as GDP, one of the most important statistical releases for its effect on financial markets. Purchases of medical equipment are an important component of nonresidential fixed investment on the product side of the accounts. The objective of this procurement is to obtain historical data on price quotes for imaging equipment, an important component of Medical Equipment and Supplies. These data are needed to construct deflators for the value of investment for these high-tech goods under more general conditions than those underlying the deflators BEA currently uses.
