Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires a contract to install erosion protection at three separate reaches/locations along the south and north banks of Snows Cut, part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) in North Carolina. The Snows Cut channel is located in New Hanover County just north of the town of Carolina Beach and east of the Cape Fear River. The project involves the placement of stone shoreline protection along 1050 feet of the existing shoreline of AIWW Snow's Cut channel adjacent to and just east of the Snow's Cut Bridge and 300 feet of stone sill between the existing U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Docking facility and parking area for the N.C. Wildlife Boat ramp near Town Limits of Carolina Beach, NC. The existing shoreline for two areas just east of the Snow's Cut Bridge would be cleared along the top of bank and would be graded to a 2.5H:lV slope for placement of a 2.5' thick layer NCDOT Class II riprap protection over a 12" thick layer of NCDOT Class A riprap bedding layer. Backfill material consisting of NCDOT Class A riprap will be placed, graded, and compacted as required to provide a smooth sloped surface. Shoreline protection will be placed on the existing shoreline down to approximately MLW depth. A stone sill consisting of NCDOT Class II riprap will be constructed adjacent to and just off the existing bank for the existing area between the existing U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Docking facility and parking area for the N.C. Wildlife Boat ramp. Geotextile will be placed beneath the NCDOT Stone layers. The estimated quantity of riprap is approximately 14,520 Tons of NCDOT Class II riprap and 6,410 Tons of NCDOT class A riprap. The work also includes some minor excavation, clearing and grubbing and permanent markers. The contract issued will be Firm Fixed Price. The Magnitude of Construction of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.00. This solicitation will be issued in electronic format only and will be available on or about August 2, 2017.
