Description
The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy Installations & Environment - Operational Energy (OASDEI&E-OE), Washington D.C. is planning on conducting a Dismounted Warfighter Power and Energy (DWP&E) Industry Day (ID) to provide industry information on the near, mid, and far term interests of the Department of Defense for Dismounted Warfighter-worn P&E capabilities and equipment. OASDEI&E-OE invites vendors and researchers to participate in this ID, which will be held at the Team C4SIR Mallette Training Facility (MTF), 6008 Jayhawk Road, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD on Wednesday 13, September 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EDT). The ID will consist of a DWP&E overview briefing to include demand and supply-side fundamentals, generation, distribution/management, storage, technology gaps, desired capabilities, and a Question and Answer (Q&A) open forum. On the battlefield the Dismounted Warfighter is charged with executing the mission with speed and precision. In support of their mission Dismounted Warfighters are required to carry an assortment of components and equipment systems, many of which are P&E based. Through the last 15 years the increased op-tempo of ongoing actions around the world has given rise to the rapid fielding of some DWP&E systems without much consideration of the combined effects on the Dismounted Warfighter. The main result of this has been an increased physical burden on the Dismounted Warfighter. As new and improved DWP&E capabilities and equipment are developed and matured, the community would like to ensure an adequate understanding of component/system integration needed on the Dismounted Warfighter to maximize mission performance on the battlefield. In addition, the government would like to inform industry on future requirements for the Dismounted Warfighter to help determine where resources should be best applied. From the government attendees will include representatives from multiple services and agencies within each service responsible for science and technology, Program Management, and logistics support. Briefings will be given on the following DWP&E topic areas: •Dismounted Warfighter Load Overview •Demand and Supply Side Fundamentals •P&E Component Integration on the Dismounted Warfighter •Power Generation and Storage •Data and Power Distribution/Management •Tactical Communications •Dismounted Mission Command Systems •Dismounted Warfighter-worn Counter Improvised Explosive Device Systems •Technology Gaps •Desired Capabilities OASDEI&E-OE invites representatives from industry and researchers to attend the briefing to better understand how the above topics will shape the future of Dismounted Warfighter P&E components and systems. The ID will be held at the Team C4SIR Mallette Training Facility (MTF), 6008 Jayhawk Road, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD on Wednesday 13, September 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EDT) and will consist of the briefings listed above followed by a Q&A open forum. Due to resource demands and time limitations, the government requests that only one (1) subject matter expert from each company register to attend the industry day. Registration for this event can be accomplished via the 'Register for Industry Day' button located on the (DWP&E) industry day webpage http://www3.natick.army.mil/team/dwpe.aspx.
