- Sources Sought Synopsis (Request for Interested Manufacturers) FROM: Jeffery A. Hall, 409 th SCMS/GUME TO: DLA Aviation Procurement Operations at Warner Robins (SPRWA1) LOCATION: Robins AFB, GA 31098-1813 FBO Post Title: Request for Interested Manufacturers of NSN 1005-00-188-6968, 20MM Gun Feeder. SUBJECT: Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the 20MM Gun Feeder, NSN 1005-00-188-6968, PN 139C6551. ITEM DESCRIPTION: The feeder assembly, a single sprocket and shaft assembly, mounts to the feed side of the M61A1 gun. A timing pin times the feeder assembly to a timed M61A1 gun. Drive power is delivered through the feeder gear assembly which meshes with the aft rotor gear assembly. The feeder assembly has guide bars with longer guiding fingers on the unload side to assist in hand-off between the gun and the unload drive assembly. The feeder assembly interfaces directly with the M61A1 gun and feeds live rounds from the transfer unit into the gun. The unload drive assembly also interfaces directly with the gun/feeder and removes empty cases from the gun into the transfer assembly. The rounds and empty cases are moved through these units by gear-driven sprockets and are controlled by fixed guides. IMPEDIMENT TO COMPETITION: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) (CAGE 05606), which maintains its configuration by part number and software version. The Government h as a complete but insufficient Technical Data Package (TDP) for this item that will require verification and validation of 3D solid models before open competition can occur. As a result, GD-OTS is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the 20mm Feeder performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST: The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to GD-OTS for the manufacture of the 20MM Feeder in support of the F-15 aircraft program. Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 1 Aug 2017 by emailing Jeffery A. Hall at jeffery.hall.4.ctr@us.af.mil and dla.dlr.proc@us.af.mil. The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1.
