- Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE 1.Solicitation Number: HHS-NIH-NIDA-SSSA-SS-2017-550 2.Title: Carl Zeiss Microscopy 3.Classification Code: 6640 Laboratory Equipment and Supplies 4.NAICS Code: 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing 5.Description: See Purchase Description This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes. No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. Also, respondents are encouraged to provide their opinions about the difficulty and/or feasibility of the potential requirement or proposed acquisition, possible solutions and approaches that may currently exist in the marketplace, and information regarding innovative ideas or concepts. 12.Submission Instructions: One (1) copy of the response is required and must be in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format using 11-point or 12-point font, 8.5" x 11" paper size, with 1" top, bottom, left and right margins, and with single or double spacing. Statement of Need and Purpose: The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), Neuroscience Consolidated Operations Acquisition Center (COAC), on behalf of the National Center for Translational Sciences (NCATS) is seeking to upgrade the 543 nm laser that is currently installed on the Zeiss 710 LSM single photon microscope to the 561 nm laser to enhance output and increase sensitivity. 2. Background Information and Objective: The stem cell unit had previously been working in a section of an existing lab but as the program has developed; the need for additional space was required. A new lab has been constructed within the 9800 facility and there is a need for new equipment to furnish this lab. The existing Zeiss Microscope is being transferred from the current work space to the new lab and it is imperative that all the new equipment not only work in conjunction with the current apparatus it must also be compatible with any software systems currently in use to maintain consistent work results. 3. Generic Name of Product: Laser upgrade for Zeiss 710 LSM single photon microscope 4. Purchase Description: Upgrade the 543 nm laser that is currently installed on the Zeiss 710 LSM single photon microscope to the 561 nm laser in accordance with Section 5: Salient Characteristics 5. Salient characteristics: The laser upgrade for the Zeiss 710 LSM single photon microscope shall include: a) Complete integration with Zeiss 710 LSM single photon microscope b) Installation service by Zeiss certified well trained technician c) Systems warranty for one year and labor warranty three months 6.
