Playground Location SF-1442 Section B BID SCHEDULE SUPPLIES OR SERVICES AND PRICES/COSTS SCHEDULE SUPPLY AND INSTALL NEW PLAY SYSTEM, CONTAINMENT SYSTEM, AND SURFACING The work site is located at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Eggert's Landing Recreation Area - 13 miles north of Valley City, North Dakota off of County Highway 1 in Barnes County. All work is to be performed in strict accordance with these specifications and according to County, State and National Safety Standards and ADA Accessibility Guidelines. The contractor shall supply all equipment, labor and materials required to furnish and install new commercial grade play system and playground boarder, to be filled with a base of Pea Rock and engineered wood fiber fall protection media, throughout the playground complex. For location of the play area at the Eggert's Landing Recreation Area, see the attached campground site map. US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS Lake Ashtabula / Baldhill Dam Recreation Area 2630 114th Ave. SE Valley City, ND 58072 701-845-2970 DESCRIPTION/SPECS/PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT SUPPLY/DELIVERY/INSTALL NEW PLAY SYSTEM AT EGGERTS'S LANDING RECREATION AREA 1. GENERAL. 1.1. Scope of Work. The work to be performed under this contract consists of furnishing all plant, materials, equipment, supplies, labor and transportation and performing all work as required by the contract, in strict accordance with the specifications and in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations. All work materials and services not expressly called for in the specifications but which are necessary for completion of the contract requirements shall be performed and furnished by the Contractor at no increase in price to the Government. 1.2. Payment. The contractor must submit a copy of the payrolls and ENG93 to the Section Supervisor at the following address: US Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Ashtabula / Baldhill Dam 2630 114th Ave. SE Valley City, ND 58072. 1.3. Description and Location. The Eggert's Landing Recreation Area is a Corps of Engineers managed recreation area with heavily utilized facilities including a campground, boat ramp, beach, playgrounds, etc. It is located approximately 13 miles North of Valley City, ND 58072. 1.4. Contract Period. All contract work must be completed by 6 October 2017. A 2-week notice must be given to the POC before installation may proceed to allow time for site preparation. 1.5. Safety. All work shall be performed in accordance with all state, federal and local laws and regulations and the Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Manual, EM-385-1-1. A copy of this manual can be found online at: http://www.publications.usace.army.mil/Portals/76/Publications/EngineerManuals/EM_385-1-1.pdf 2 SPECIFICATIONS 2.1 General Description: Work under this contract includes: Installation of new play systems, 8' bench with back rest (polyethylene slats), garbage can, linear high-density polyethylene border, pea rock and engineered wood fiber media as described below. All product colors must be approved by project POC prior to ordering. The garbage receptacle shall be of vertical faux wood slat construction (UV stabilized polyethylene), have a domed push lid, and contain a 24 gallon can. An example playground layout has been provided. The layout is provided for informational purposes only and does not mandate any make or model of playground equipment to be provided under the resulting contract. 2.2. Delivery: The Contractor shall coordinate all Deliveries of materials through the project POC'S Joel Zietz and/or Chris Botz. They can be reached at 701-845-2970. 2.3. Installation of Play System Components: The Contractor shall install new commercial grade playground system components as follows. See Exhibit A for approximate installation location. • 2.3.1. Play system: The Contractor shall install new Commercial Playground Systems equivalent to the following material specifications provided by Dakota Playground of landscape structures. The play system shall be installed within a 44' by 80' impact area to accommodate the safety use zone required. o Slides and plastic components of the play system are to be Tan in color, platforms shall be Brown in color, and posts shall be green in color and the rails brown in color. o At least one climbing structure (rock wall type) shall be installed on the main play system and have a minimum vertical height of 72". o Play system should be designed for children 5 to 12 years of age. o The plastic tube slides and spiral slides shall have a minimum 5 year warranty free from defects in materials and workmanship. o Post(s) diameter shall be no less than 5" o Minimum Number of Play Activities: 15 (Example: tube slide, spiral slide, shimmy bars, monkey bars, bubble panel, binoculars, rock wall, stair climber, cargo chain ladder ship's wheel) o Child Capacity: The play system shall be designed to handle a minimum 20 kids at a time. • 2.3.2. A 2 Bay Swing Set, shall be installed on the west side of the Play System, centered in a manner so that the manufacturers use zone requirements for the component are met. o Swings for the component shall include: 2 qty belt swings and 1 qty ADA adaptive swing seat (rated to hold 125 pounds) and 1 swing seat with molded seat/Harness. o Swing set legs & top rail shall be constructed of at least 5" in diameter aluminum/steel with a beam height of 8 feet. o Swing hangers shall be self-lubricating • 2.3.3 Single Child Play Items, The Contractor shall install two (2) freestanding single child play items. One (1) coil spring type bobble ride and one (1) spinning seat (saddle spinner, Spinner Bowl) type item. o The coil spring for the bobble type ride shall be designed in a way to prevent children from pinching their fingers in the spring. o Play items should be designed for children 5 to 12 years of age. 2.4. Installation of Play System: The play system shall be installed according to manufacturer's recommendations and must meet all national, state and local playground safety and ADA codes. 2.5. Installation of Containment Border: The Contractor is responsible for installing a playground containment border around the 44' X 80 impact area. • 2.5.1 Border. U.V. stabilized high -density polyethylene 4'' wide by 12" high shall be used as the playground containment border. o The border shall be installed level, plumb, and have 90 degree corners and straight sides. • 2.5.2 Installation of ADA Threshold Ramp: One threshold ramp, consistent with ADA guidelines for playgrounds, shall be installed on the main play area containment border. o Ramp shall be made from U.V. stabilized linear low density polyethylene black in color. o Ramp shall be secured with in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. 2.6. Playground Surfacing Material (Impact Media). A weed preventive geotextile fabric barrier shall be laid down and base layer of pea rock (washed smooth rounded stones roughly the size of a pea) shall be installed 3" deep over the geotextile prior to placement of engineered wood fiber playground surfacing material. Surfacing material shall be laid at a continuous depth of 12 inches (non-compacted) within the containment border. The Surfacing material shall be raked level. 2.7. Size of Play System/Swing Set Impact Area: All playground areas in the complex shall have impact media installed. The impact area of the play system with new components shall be 44 feet wide by 80 feet long. 2.8. Work Area: Any damages to facilities or the lawn area shall be repaired at the contractor's expense. All construction debris shall be removed and disposed of off-site in accordance with local and state regulations. C-3.0. ATTACHMENTS C-3.1. Exhibit A. Installation location of Playground
