A00004 The purpose of this amendment is to publish additional vendor s questions & government s answers. As a consequence the SOW has been revised to incorporate the answers to the questons. Specification Mattress will be comprised of a combination of viscoelastic foam (a porous polymer material that conforms in proportion to the applied weight.) and air (low density fluid with minimal resistance to flow) for pressure redistribution Question. Will this specification be expanded to allow for a mattress that addresses pressure redistribution through a combination of gel, foam, and air pod technology? Answer: The above specification has been changed to allow for pressure redistribution through a combination of gel, foam, and air pod technology as well. Specification- Mattress must include the features of alternating pressure (feature of support surface that provides pressure redistribution via cyclic changes in loading and uploading as characterized by frequency, duration, amplitude and rate of change parameters) and lateral rotation (feature of a support surface that provides rotation about a longitudinal axis as characterized by degree of patient turn, duration and frequency). Question: Will this specification be expanded to allow for a mattress that achieves the desired clinical outcome of pressure redistribution through four-zone sensor air pod technology and also provides lateral rotation therapy? Answer: The above specification has been changed to allow for a mattress that achieves the desired clinical outcome of pressure redistribution through four-zone sensor air pod technology and also provides lateral rotation therapy as well. Specification (Mattress will) Allow for partial immersion into foam. Question: Will this specification be expanded to allow for a mattress that accomplishes immersion and envelopment of the patient through a combination of air pod technology and gel? Answer: SOW amended to include this since it was already included via Question #1. Specification Patient Controls (including height of bed and head up and down) within the reach of the patient on both sides of bed and easy to operate Question: Will this specification be expanded to allow for a bed that includes a patient pendant that allows patients to control Head of Bed and knee/foot end articulation only? Answer: This does not matter if the controls on a pendant or the side of the bed rails.   Our specification should not have included the height of bed in the patient control examples.   SOW changed to take out the height of the bed verbiage. Specification Bed will interface with the PICIS documentation system Question: What is the PICIS system being used for? Is it the equivalent to MEWS? What type of data from the bed would this system utilize? Answer: PICIS is an electronic documentation system. Data that could possibly transmitted to the EMR would be patient weight and HOB position. Specification Bed should come with trapeze/patient helper. Question: Will this specification be expanded to allow beds that possess removable trapeze adaptors that fit all major manufacturers of trapeze patient helper bars and allow for increased clinical and financial flexibility? Answer: NO Specification 2 side rails located at head of bed (larger) and 2 side rails located at foot of bed. Question: Will this specification be expanded to allow for a bed that has side rails in accordance with the commercially available industry standard dimensions met by most major manufacturers? Answer: Our specification did not need to have the word larger associated with the side rails for the head of the bed.   Just two at the top and two at the bottom is what we needed. SOW amended to include this change.     DUE TO SYSTEM PROBLEM THE SOLICITATION MIGHT SHOW AS NOT SET ASIDE. THIS SOLICITATION IS SET ASIDE 100% SDVOSB AND ONLY CERTIFIED SDVOSB QUOTES WILL BE CONSIDERED!
