- Description
- This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, but merely notification of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intent to issue a sole-source, firm fixed-price purchase order to MultiLab Industries. The casework in Rooms A121 and A123 must be interchangeable with existing furniture in the older laboratories in Building 235. The width of many of the units are 35" or 47", which is not a standard casework width. The mobile furniture allows us to quickly reconfigure a laboratory. Size differences can cause problems in laboratory layout and function. The design of the laboratories was based on the needs of the scientific staff that will be using the space. It is critical that we have laboratories that can easily adapt to the constant changes in the areas of research. To achieve this goal, the NCNR uses mobile furniture to allow for the quick and efficient reconfiguration of laboratories. The materials to be purchased includes mobile base cabinets on wheels, stationary base cabinets with sinks, wall cabinets without doors, wall cabinets with sliding glass doors, tabletops, phenolic shelving units and epoxy counter tops. The casework is to have latching cabinets, smooth rolling drawer slides, and attached counter tops in sections. The casework is to have a Chem-Block powder coat finish. The epoxy resin material is used in areas of the laboratory where furnaces will be located since it is a heat resistant material. Phenolic surfaces are used elsewhere in our laboratories because of its non-porous nature. Written responses to this notice shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. Responses shall be submitted by 12:00PM ET on August 3, 2017 to dechanta.vaughan@nist.gov.
