Description
Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator Mission Systems Architecture Demonstration Industry Day, August 23, 2017 Description : The Aviation Development Directorate (ADD) of the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) will conduct an Industry Day to further collaboration between the U.S. Government and Industry in anticipation of the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator (TD) Mission Systems Architecture Demonstration (MSAD) Capstone Demonstration Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). The Capstone Demonstration is intended to apply the knowledge gained during previous JMR MSAD efforts into a representative and relevant demonstration of Open Systems Architecture enablers that achieve desired objectives. Topics : The JMR TD MSAD Industry Day is being held to discuss the content of the recent JMR TD Capstone Demonstration Request for Information (RFI). Topics to be covered, include: 1. Capstone Demonstration Overview and Objectives 2. Capstone Demonstration Approach 3. Capstone RFI and discussion of responses 4. Changes resulting from RFI responses 5. Path forward Background : The JMR TD is a focused research effort whose purpose is to demonstrate transformational vertical lift capabilities and prepare the Department of Defense (DOD) for decisions regarding the replacement of the current vertical lift fleet. The JMR TD is composed of two main efforts: the Air Vehicle Demonstration (AVD) and the MSAD. Currently, the military services develop aviation platforms through independent procurements using a unique set of requirements implemented by a single vendor. Given the sophistication and agility of current and projected adversaries, and the rapid advancement of technology and processing power for computing systems, there are increasing indications that this type of acquisition approach has exceeded the capacity to provide system solutions in an affordable and timely manner. In addition, aviation systems are procured in a manner preventing competitive market forces from saving the Government time and money due to vendor lock. The JMR MSAD Science and Technology (S&T) program is pursuing demonstrations to fundamentally address this problem. Through a comprehensive approach to Government-led architecture definition, open systems enablers, model-based engineering and architecture centric virtual integration, JMR MSAD seeks to improve future aviation mission system procurements to strengthen the United States Army's buying power, improve efficiency, and provide an affordable, value-added military capability to the Warfighter. To this end, the JMR MSAD Capstone Demonstration seeks to demonstrate aspects of the proposed solution through specific roles in order to evaluate the efficiencies gained by applying a Family of Systems (FoS) approach to architecture definition using a model-based approach along with architecture virtual integration analysis. For additional information, please review the following BAA and RFI notices on FedBizOpps ( https://www.fbo.gov/ ): • Request for Information: Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) Capstone Demonstration ( Solicitation Number: W911W6-17-R-0012 ) • Request for Information: Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) Architecture Implementation Process Demonstration (AIPD) ( Solicitation Number: W911W6-15-R-0011 ) • Request for Information: Mission Systems Architecture Demonstration (MSAD) Baseline Objective Mission Equipment Package (MEP) Definition within the Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) Program ( Solicitation Number: W911W6-15-R-0006 ) • Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) Joint Common Architecture Demonstration (JCA Demo) Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) ( Solicitation Number: W911W6-14-R-0002 ) • Market Research to Refine the composition, data content, and acquisition approach for the Joint Common Architecture (JCA) Demonstration project as part of the Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) Phase 2 program ( Solicitation Number: W911W6-13-R-0008 ) • Joint Multi-Role Technology Demonstrator (JMR TD) Phase 2 Mission Systems Effectiveness Trades and Analysis (MS ETA) ( Solicitation Number: W911W6-12-R-0018 ) Event Info : The JMR TD MSAD Industry Day will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, AL 35899, from 8:00 a.m. CDT to 5:00 p.m. CDT.
