- DRAFT-Helium Refrigerator Statement of Work Notice Information Agency/Office: Air Force Material Command Location: HQ Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) - Arnold Air Force Base, TN Title: Helium Refrigerator Description: A helium refrigerator which utilizes a turbo expander with dynamic gas bearings and incorporates liquid nitrogen (LN2) precooling to produce 7000 Watts of cooling power while supplying 12 psig helium to the load with a return temperature of 20 K. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This sources sought does not constitute an invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals, nor Request for Quotations and is not to be construed as a commitment by the government to issue a contract or otherwise pay for the information requested. The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to identify businesses having the capability to provide a Helium Refrigerator. In response to this notice, please address the following: 1. Do you produce custom or standard products with similar capacity at or near the design conditions to the product specified? 2. If so, how did your previous product(s) compare to the specification and are there any significant differences? 3. Based on the reading of the specification, please conceptually describe how you would perform capacity throttling "turn-down" with a turbine expander? 4. Is there any additional equipment (other than that which was specified) which your company would require to be able to offer the specified warranty. 5. Provide a budgetary quotation for the entire scope of work (+/- 50%). 6. Are any of the specifications problematic from the standpoint of requiring a product that cannot be produced? 7. Are any of the specifications problematic from the standpoint of requiring features with a poor cost to benefit ratio? 8. Is there an opportunity to save cost, floor space and/or maintainability utilizing a different power feed other than what is listed in the specification? Provide amperage/voltage and additional pertinent technical information. 9. Please estimate volumetric dimensions for the major system components. Information should be provided no later than 2:00 PM CST on 14 August 2017.
