- This is a Request for Information (RFI) to identify the available sources for various forging requirements in support of Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC). This inquiry is considered market research only. No contract will be awarded from this RFI. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, nor, it is a request seeking offerors to be placed on a solicitation mailing list. No solicitation exists at this time. Additional information: -Material: 4330V Steel IAW SAE AMS6427 - Forging shall be produced IAW SAE AMS 6400 - Dimensioning and tolerancing shall be interpreted in accordance IAW ASME Y14.5 - 2009. - Surface roughness in micro inches shall be interpreted IAW ASME B46.1. - Surface roughness shall be 500 unless otherwise specified. - Mark with NAWC Cage Code-Part Number, and Contract Number IAW SAE AS478-2A2 along with markings required stated in SAE AMS 6400. - Delivered in the normalized or normalized and tempered condition - Each shall have 2-prolongations included in the forging design to be used for mechanical property testing. The thickness of the prolongations shall be equal to the maximum thickness of the final forging. Coupons shall be cut from the center of the prolongations in the L-T orientation and shall be shown on the contractors drawing. - One prolongation shall be sectioned and quenched and tempered in accordance with SAE AMS2759/1 by the forging producer to verify that the forging process utilized will meet final design requirements. - The second prolongation shall remain with the forging for mechanical property verification of the finished component. - Tensile requirements is 130KSI minimum yield strength and 15% elongation tested in accordance with ASTM E8. Fracture toughness (KIC) shall be measured in accordance with the ASTM E399 with a minimum requirement of 100KSI-SQ-RT-IN. - Each forging shall be 100% ultrasonically inspected in accordance with SAE AMS 2630 to Class AA requirements in addition to the surface inspection requirements of SAE AMS6400. -Draft adds material -Break all edges.25 Max.
