Description
Opportunity Notice for Parties Interested in Partnering with the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) under DOE’s FY17 SubTER Lab Call NETL is seeking partners to support a concept in response to Topic 2: Sensors and Tools for Autonomous Completions and Long Term Monitoring of Wellbore Integrity, https://energy.gov/eere/geothermal/articles/subter-lab-call. Specifically, NETL is seeking one or more partners to support the development and deployment of a suite of sensor technologies in the following tasks: Task 1. Technology Maturation: Early device design efforts along with technology maturation plan development. Task 2. Chemical-Sensing Layer Research and Development: Develop chemical sensing layers and chemical sensitization approaches for the full class of sensor devices. Task 3. Multi-Functional Optical Sensor Development and Deployment: Collaboratively develop and deploy optical sensor technology from laboratory-scale to full-scale deployment in a relevant wellbore environment. Task 4. Multi-Functional Wireless Sensor Device Development: Microwave sensor devices compatible with wireless interrogation will be pursued and demonstrated at laboratory-scale. NETL anticipates that the activities described above will be executed in support of, and within the scope of, a larger three-year project. NETL anticipates making available up to approximately $250,000 for Task 1, up to approximately $60,000 for Task 2, up to approximately $1,250,000 for Task 3, and up to approximately $600,000 for Task 4 and anticipates multiple awards, likely cooperative agreements, with awardees contributing to one or more of the defined Tasks.
