- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source, fixed-price contract to the Georgia Tech Research Corporation under solicitation number 2017-N-67315. The CDC- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) laboratory has specimens from a number of HPV vaccination studies and cancer registries to conduct these studies using the HPV- Single Molecule Sequencing (SMS) genotyping test. The CDC HPV laboratory is currently one of two global reference laboratories, and these proposed studies using advanced molecular detection technologies and bioinformatics are essential to maintaining the global reference laboratory status of the CDC-HPV lab. Georgia Tech has unique expertise in genome analysis and genome annotation. It has also developed the proprietary software tools used in pioneering genome projects. The Georgia Tech Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics has been able to solve a number of long standing programs, particularly automatic software tools. It also has unique expertise in developing custom built pipelines for genome annotation where their original algorithms play a central role. Based on these unique experience, Georgia Tech Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics has been participating with CDC's National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, Division of High Consequence Pathogens and Pathology, Chronic Viral Diseases Branch. This will be a logical follow-on contract. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) for this requirement is 611310, Custom Computer Programming Services. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1 and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within ten (10) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any proposal/ response must be emailed to the Contracting Officer, Pat Billins, at pbillins@cdc.gov by 2:00pm Eastern Time, Monday, August 8, 2017.
