- Description
- The contractor who would be transporting the bridge materials for the Excursion Inlet contract would be responsible for the following: 1. The contractor is responsible for providing the trailers or flats to be used for transport. The bridge components are currently sitting on the ground at the staging area in Auburn, WA. 2. Each trailer or flat needs to be capable of hauling maximum weights of 45,000 lbs. The government estimates four flats or trailers with at least 40 foot beds, maximum width of 8.5 feet (minimum width of 8 feet) will be needed to transport all the materials. 3. The bridge pickup site is the GSA facility located at 15th and C Streets in Auburn, Washington (see attached Google Earth photo). Bridge components must be loaded by the contractor no later than Wednesday, August 23rd. An earlier date may be possible with prior coordination. 4. The trailers or flats will be loaded with bridge materials by the contractor on August 23rd and have ready for transport by noon on Thursday, August 24th. There is NO facility or crane at the GSA facility in Auburn. The contractor is responsible for providing all labor and material handling equipment. 5. The contractor will need to transport the loads to a barge facility for shipment to the Ocean Beauty dock at Excursion Inlet (see attached Google Earth photo). The bridge parts need to be delivered and offloaded by the contractor at Excursion Inlet no later than September 1, 2017. 6. A Forest Service rep will be on-site in Auburn, WA to ensure the complete bridge is loaded and a complete inventory is documented. The contractor will also need to provide container(s) for transporting approx. 2,700 lbs of bridge hardware, such as nuts, bolts, etc. 7. Coordination by the contractor for loading the bridges in Auburn (Forest Service) and offloading the bridges in Excursion Inlet (Ocean Beauty Cannery) is required. The contact information will be provided to the awardee. Aerial Pictures of the GSA facility in Auburn and Excursion Inlet dock area have been enclosed. The two photos of trucks are a representation of a similar bridge package loaded for transport. The wooden box on the back of the photo "Trucking 2" is a box previously used for the bridge hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.) referenced in bullet #6 of this document. The contractor must provide current USCG and/or USDOT credentials for transporting the materials by truck and barge prior to award.
