Description
HSFLGL-17-Q00152 000005 - This amendment is issued to answers to vendor's question: 15Q) Has air quality testing been performed on personnel that currently clean the traps? 15A) Yes, initial testing was performed and the employee sampling results exceeded the OSHA PEL for Copper. 16Q) If so, what PPE and training requirements have FLETC safety personnel deemed necessary? 16A) Our facilities staff clean out the clogs from shotgun wads by hand and therefore wear PAPR respirators, TYVEK suits w/ hoods, gloves, double booties, etc. Since they were over the PEL for copper and since copper dust was very irritating to the eyes and skin, they received training in hazardous materials, respiratory protection, lead awareness, bloodborne pathogen, etc. 17A) If the vacuum pipes need to be cut in order, to allow for proper cleaning, who is responsible for the cutting and repairing? 17Q) The contractor would be responsible for notifying the FLETC representative prior to cutting, or altering, any part of the vacuum system. Upon approval, the contractor would be responsible for the cutting and repairing if needed. 18Q) How long does it take for the current personnel to clean the traps? 18A) The length of time depends on the amount of range usage and number of available personnel to assist with the cleaning, but average length is 3 to 5 hours. This is the final posting of vendor's questions for this solicitation.
