- Notice of Intent to Award Noncompetitive Procurement Analysis of Mercury, Organochlorines, and PCBs in Organic Samples The U.S. Geological Survey - Alaska Science Center requires analysis to estimate contaminant levels in hair, blood, and fat samples collected from polar bears for the following contaminants: 1) mercury in approximately 120 hair samples; and 2) organochlorines and PCBs in approximately 200 blood samples or fat biopsies. The Government intends to negotiate a firm-fixed price award on a non-competitive basis with Michigan State University (MSU), in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled Acquisition of Commercial Items. Other interested parties may contact the Contracting Officer at capplegate@usgs.gov before the closing date (08/19/2017) of this announcement for additional information or to submit a capabilities statement. Capability statements will be evaluated solely to determine if competitive opportunities exist; quotations are not solicited at this time.
