This important research area will impact veterans health. 3 dimensional imaging and quantitative image studies by fluorescence and confocal microscopy and image analytics allows new insights into nervous system, cardiovascular disease and responses, and cancer. We are seeking a tool that can upgrade the operating capabilities of multiple microscope systems here at the VA with quantitative 3D image systems. Specific requirements include capacity to operate with output from multiple microscope systems, and to integrate them into a work flow that provides quantitative output including spatial and relational information about vessel and other cell phenotypes and structures: Must operate on with confocal as well as conventional microscopes Must quantity images in 3D and identify structures including filament traces and cell objects Must provide efficient and automated masking to allow isolation of tissue elements such as blood vessels or neurons. Must provide for automatic tracing of migrating cells in time series outputs, with cell velocities, position vs. time plots. Must include easy-to-use data analysis software.
