Description
Foster Dam Fish Ladder Crane Demolition The fish ladder gantry Crane at Foster Dam was built in 1964 as part of the original Adult Fish Facility. The crane was used to transport fish upstream to the crest of the dam and into the reservoir or trucks. The hopper is currently out of service for maintenance and associated safety concerns. The crane is a concrete structure crossing the entire roadway 35 feet above the deck and is permanently fixed in five places to the dam structure adjacent to the spillway. The crane has various electrical fixtures and mechanical equipment that hang down over the roadway and limit access to the spillway deck. Demolition and removal of the existing crane will allow ease and access Foster Project Operations. The removal of the existing crane will ease the installation of Foster's fish weir and stoplogs, provide access and egress for trucks delivering the Project's fish weir and stoplogs, and eliminate height restrictions for hauling materials to the weir worksite. The demolition involves removing all equipment from the crane including all electrical fixtures, hoists, gearboxes, drums, and electrical conduit. The concrete structure shall be removed down to the deck elevation on both the upstream and downstream sides of the roadway. The gearbox for the hoisting equipment has been drained, but there is residual oil in the gearbox and grease on various components. The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, vehicles, supervision, and other items and services necessary to demolish the fish ladder gantry crane at Foster Dam and fabricate and install supports for the existing crane way stairs (this can be found in Attachment III labeled DWG FSD-2-40). This firm fixed priced service contract has a Period of Performance from the Date of Award, to Close of Business, 2 February 2018. There are no option years or optional items associated with this contract.
