- Description
- The Forest Service will soon advertise a solicitation for road maintenance activities on Wrangell Island. The intent of the contract is to provide required road maintenance activities on National Forest Service roads on Wrangell Island in Southeast Alaska. The project involves road repair work. A summary of the project work involves the following: 1. Reconditioning roads, including ditches, shoulders, and roadbeds; 2. Developing, hauling, and placing a 4" lift of compacted crushed aggregate; 3. Developing, hauling, placing, and compacting rock borrow; 4. Excavating woodchips from under turnout at milepost 1.5; 5. Providing required materials and constructing a rock buttress wall at milepost 0.4; 6. Grass seeding and fertilizing, and; 7. Mobilizing equipment to perform the work. The contractor will become the property owner of metal and other manufactured products excavated as part of this contract, which they will remove from Government-administered lands, and dispose of properly. This includes the metal culverts being removed, as well as items encountered during ditch cleaning. The intent of this contract is to provide for the complete construction of the project. The estimated value of this activity is between $100,000 and $250,000.
