Description
PRESOLICITATION - SOLICITATION On or about 18 August 2017 POWERHOUSE BRIDGE BEARING GROUT REPAIRS, CONCRETE MORTAR PATCHES, AND SEALANT, BIG BEND DAM, SOUTH DAKOTA The Big Bend Dam Powerhouse Bridge, is a nine span bridge with each span having multiple welded steel plate girders. The bridge is located 2 miles south of Fort Thompson, South Dakota and carries South Dakota Highway 47 over the water intakes on the upstream side of the Big Bend Dam Powerhouse. The objective is to inspect the bridge bearing pads and repair the cracking and spalling of grout beneath several of the bearing plates, repair a few small concrete spalls with mortar patches and to apply polyether adhesive sealant to gaps at the bottoms of girder web stiffener along span 9 of the bridge. The project consists of furnishing all plant, labor, materials, and equipment and performing all work to inspect all bridge bearing pads, remove and replace deficient grout at selected steel bearing assemblies. Access to the bearings will require special equipment such as an under-bridge inspection unit (snooper) or use of the project's barge. Separate bid item in the construction plans and specifications will be to repair a few small concrete spalls with mortar patches, and to apply polyether adhesive sealant to gaps at the bottoms of girder web stiffeners. Use of a snooper will require temporary closure of one of the two traffic lanes. Occasional wide vehicles on the highway will require movement of the snooper which would cause interruption of the work. The period of performance will be 270 days approximately from September 1, 2017 to June 1, 2018.
