SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals or quotes and does not obligate the Government to award a contract. This notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation or commitment by the Government, nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFQ) at this time. Responses to this Notice must be in writing. The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to conduct market research to determine, in particular, the capability of Small Business firms to provide the supplies/services described below. Documentation of technical expertise must be presented in sufficient detail for the Government to determine that your company possesses the necessary experience to compete for this acquisition. Responses to this notice shall include the following: (a) company name; (b) address; (c) point of contact; (d) phone, fax and email; (e ) DUNS Number; (f) Cage Code; (g) socioeconomic category (i.e., small business, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, Veteran Owned Small Business, etc.); (h) a technical/capability statement as well as your existing customers (i) any GSA Schedule numbers and expiration dates and (j) if you accept credit cards. VA will accept responses from ALL socioeconomic categories in order to gain a more complete understanding of the market for these services. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System has a need for testing for Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI). PJI is a growing challenge for the orthopedic community, as PJI will continue to increase due to the fact that joint replacement is the standard of care for degenerative joint disease. Historically, typical tests available for PJI, include only systemic tests, such as ESR and CRP, which are nonspecific, and culture/ bacterial identification which can be less than 50% successful for identification of an infected joint. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is interested in the Synovasure Alpha Defensin test which is a panel that includes 3 assays; alpha defensin, hemoglobin, and CRP. All assays in the panel are run together. With 97% sensitivity and 96% specificity, this test is able to diagnosis infection in synovial fluid using a key biomarker, alpha-defensin, which is released by activated neutrophils at the site of the infection.   SYNOVASURE ® PJI Insurance Billing: CRP-SF 86140   HEMOGLOBIN-SF 84311   ALPHA DEFENSINS-SF 83516   Vendor will supply pre-paid Fed Ex envelopes for sample submission. Materials will be scheduled for shipment according to the needs of Microbiology. Patient results will be faxed to the department of Pathology and Laboratory Services. Materials will be shipped within 3 business days of ordering. All deliveries will be made to the Pittsburgh HCS, University Drive. Patient results will be available within 24 hours of sample being received. Description of Services Est. Monthly Quantity Unit Synovasure Alpha Defensin Panel 5-6 EA   The NAICS Code for the expected acquisition is 621511, with a Size Standard of $32.5 Million and the PSC Code is 6215. Any subsequent procurement will be conducted as a commercial item purchase in accordance with FAR Part 12 and as a Simplified Acquisition Procedure in accordance with FAR Part 13.
