Description

The purpose of the behavioral tracking software is to serve as an animal behavioral tracking and data collection device. To this end, the device captures a live video feed of the animal performing numerous behavior tasks facilitated by the experimenter. The video feed is then relayed to a computer for data collection and analysis. Specifically, the camera monitors behaviors that are related to cognition, anxiety, exploration, locomotion, and swim behavior (among others) while collecting necessary dependent variables that can be used to infer information about the performance of the animal related to the experimental design. As it pertains to the PI s grant, the PI will use this device to test hippocampus-dependent associative learning in the water maze paradigm following traumatic brain injury in rats.
