***THIS IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF A SOLICITATION*** The Ann Arbor VA Healthcare System, Ann Arbor, Michigan requires the following: Purpose: Therapeutic music is an art based on the science of sound. It consists of live acoustic music that is tailored to a Veteran s immediate needs. The Therapeutic Musician will play live music to Veterans at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. If possible and appropriate, music will be of the Veteran s choice. Preferred instrument is the harp. Target Audience: Primarily Veterans receiving palliative care or end of life care, but also any others identified by staff who may benefit from therapeutic music. Veterans to receive services may be located on any unit or in any area, or may include those attending special events sponsored by the healthcare system. Qualifications: Graduate of a program accredited by, or affiliated with, the National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians (NSBTM, http://www.therapeuticmusician.com/index.html or http://nsbtm.org ). A. Examples of credentials from accredited programs include: 1. CCM Certified Clinical Musician for the Clinical Musician Certification Program 2. CMP Certified Music Practitioner for the Music for Healing and Transition Program 3. CTHP Certified Harp Therapy Practitioner the International Harp Therapy Program 4. CHM Certified Healing Musician for the International Healing Musician s Program (program accredited in 2008 and closed in 2011) B. Examples of affiliated programs include: 1. GentleMUSES 2. Compassionate Harps 3. Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy 4. Healing Musician s Center Frequency of Service: Therapeutic Musician will provide 40 to 60 hours of service per month, typically offered in 5 hour sessions. The sessions will be spread out throughout the month (ex: 2 3 times a week, etc). Solicitation will be posted on or about August 17, 2017 with a required by date of August 31, 2017.
