- Description
- Aquatic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) System. This sources sought notice is for informational purposes only and shall not be considered a solicitation, obligation, or commitment by the Government. This notice is for market research to determine the availability of contractors with capabilities to provide an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) System. New and updated Salient Characteristics. The ADCP System shall: 1. Use 4 beams in the Janus configuration with a dedicated 5th beam for depth and vertical velocity. 2. Have a bottom tracking accuracy of +/- 0.25% of bottom velocity relative to ADCP 3. Allow for either fully automatic, or user specified operation. 4. Have an internal GPS for geo-referencing data. 5. Have a beam angle of 20 degrees, resulting in only 6% near bed loss opposed to a 10% loss at the bottom from ADCPs that have a beam angle of 25 degrees. 6. Measure discharge data at a minimum depth of 20cm from the face of the instrument. 7. Measure distance to the bottom from a vertical beam accuracy of 1%. 8. Use a temperature sensor, and pitch and roll sensors for measurement compensation. 9. Have internal memory. 10. Have a DC voltage range of 10.5 to 18V DC. GENERAL Description: Provide capabilities and verification of the ADCP System meeting the requirements listed in the salient characteristics below. Salient Characteristics for the ADCP System must include: 1. Must have wave measurement capability 2. Vertical beam enhancement of view 3. Ability to enhance other measurements such as wave field parameters, single beam echo sounder, bathymetric data and turbulence. 4. Vertical beam main-lobe needs to be a direct point to surface ensuring side-lobe interference is avoided. 5. Built in consistency check for wave data quality. 6. Able to provide redundant measurements. 7. No-drift capabilities with direct measure range to surface. 8. Must allow for more exact transformation of wave-orbital motions within wave calculations. 9. Sturdy enough not to have to be recalibrated regularly. 10. Have extended scope of wave field measurements. 11. High resolution measurements of waves, even in deeper deployments. The purpose of this notice is to determine interest and capability of potential sources. The NAICS is 334511, Search and detection systems and instruments manufacturing, Size Standard 1,250 Employees. Interested parties will submit an email detailing their capabilities and experience with these products. Sufficient information must be provided to demonstrate the ability to provide the required product. This is not a request for quotation or an announcement of a solicitation. Responses will be used for market research only. Responses are due no later than 08/21/2017 1300 EDT. Response must be submitted to Stewart Evans by email at sevans@usgs.gov. Responses shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to sevans@usgs.gov. All response documents required by this sources sought must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 08/21/2017. Responses submitted by hardcopy or the FedConnect web portal or Fed Connect Message Center shall not be accepted or considered.
