- Description
- CAS RFI Notice CAS Paper This is a Request for Information (RFI); there is no solicitation available at this time. Requests for solicitation will receive no response. This Request for Information is published for market research purposes only. The Government does not intend to pay for the information solicited. This RFI is conducted to identify potential sources capable of meeting the requirements for the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Range and Network (RN) Division, Commercial Augmentation Services. The Government will neither award a contract solely on the basis of this synopsis nor will it reimburse the contractor for any costs associated with preparing or submitting a response to this notice. This synopsis does not constitute a Request for Quotation, Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB), nor does this issuance restrict the Government's acquisition approach. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or part, any industry input as a result of this announcement. If the Government decides to award a contract for this or related effort, a solicitation will be published and posted on the FedBizOpps website. The Commercial Augmentation Services (CAS) effort is to increase network antenna and communications capacity and diversity to enable AFSCN resiliency and ensure the ability to communicate with our space assets. The main focus of this RFI is to explore commercial providers' ability to deliver Unified S Band (USB) transmission, telemetry reception, and tracking and ranging services to both supplement and back up the AFSCN. The goal is to eventually be able to provide these services to all spacecraft supported by the AFSCN; however, the objective is to leverage existing assets with minimal modifications recognizing that not all sites can perform all services for all spacecraft. The ability to interface commercial antennas with the AFSCN scheduling systems is also critical in providing seamless support to complement the AFSCN. Ultimately, SMC envisions having multiple paths to take advantage of commercial USB assets in both CONUS and OCONUS.
