Description
This amendment addresses additional questions and extends the due date for offers until 5:00pm (Eastern), Monday, 21 August 2017. Question: In attachment B of the SOW, letter M states that the instrument shall detect rare earth metals with low limits of detection <100 ppm. Is there a specific list of rare earth metals it needs to be able to detect? Answer: The rare earth elements that the handheld XRF analyzer should detect includes, but is not limited to, Cerium (Ce), Praseodymium (Pr), and Neodymium (Nd). Question: Letter Q states that calibration of the instrument shall have a linear response of over 3 orders of magnitude (1-1000 ppm) for Se and Pb. This is matrix dependent, can you please confirm the matrix for this specification? Answer: In order to make to demonstrate the 3 orders of magnitude, a lead oxide and a selenium oxide can be mixed well at a precalculated amount. The multiple concentrations of the elements can then be tested with the HXFA. It is understood that the concentrations may not be exact every time, but well mixed samples should accomplish the goal. If necessary, a non-interfering solid matrix, such as a ceramic powder, can be added to dilute the elements further.
