Description
RFQ Brand Name Justification The Optics Branch (Code 551) at the NASA GSFC requires a measuring microscope for the inspection and characterization of surface features on a broad range of critical optical and non-optical surfaces. The measuring microscope system shall incorporate automation for the precise measurement of the XY and Z axes. The system shall use basic research acquisition and analysis software to allow automated XYZ image capture of large tiled images while capturing Z-stacks or using autofocus function to be broadly useful to several researchers across the facility. To satisfy these, the following requirements must be met: • Digital imaging and vision processing metrology • Non-contact Z-height measurements • Transmitted LED variable light source • High-intensity halogen light source for reflected light • Automated XY Stage 2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs The contractor shall provide an automated measuring microscope system with the following specifications and configurations: • Large, research-grade Measurescope body with linear encoders for high precision. • Automated XY Stage, 6"x6" Travel, with Linear Encoders, 2mm Pitch, 0.1um Resolution with Glass Plate • Metronics Quadra-Check 230 Geometric Readout XYZ with patented Measure Magic technology with 0.1um resolution; large display readout for XYZ with quick individual reset buttons for measuring features inside and outside the field-of-view of the eyepiece and/or camera. The QC also measures geometric feature size and their Cartesian coordinate position. • Tilting Trinocular Head with 10x/22mm FOV eyepieces; right eyepiece includes crossline. • 5-Position BD, DIC capable, nosepiece with the following objectives: o T Epi Plan Apo 2.5x, 0.075NA, 6.5mm WD (Working Distance) o TU BD Epi Plan Fluor 5x, 0.15NA, 18mm WD o TU BD Epi Plan Fluor 10x, 0.30NA, 15mm WD o TU BD Epi Plan Fluor 20x, 0.45NA, 4.5mm WD • Transmitted LED variable light source. • High-intensity halogen light source for reflected light with 4 bulbs. 3 V2.0 9-22 NIKON MM400U MEASURESCOPE • Nikon DS-Ri2 large format color camera with 36mmx24mm sensor, 16.3 megapixels, one shot acquisition. • Nikon Basic Research Acquisition and Analysis Software: o Automated XYZ image capture of large tiled images while capturing Z-stacks or using autofocus function o XY/AREA/Counting Analysis o Calibrated Micron Bars o Measure features within a full field or ROI through thresholding o Tiling Large Images o Zoom Magnifier Tool o EDF: Extended Depth-of-Focus creates an in-focus image from a z-stack 3. Place of Performance Optics Branch (Code 551) at the NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, MD. 4. Delivery Schedule • Measuring microscope shall be delivered 70 days after PR is awarded. • Measuring microscope shall be installed in the Fabrication and Thin-Film Laboratory in the Optics Branch (Code 551) at the Goddard Space Flight Center. • Warranty: 5-year mechanical / 1-year electrical • Support: "On-site" installation, training and technical support for the life of the instrument by local factory-trained personnel at no additional charge.
