- THIS IS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) NOTICE ONLY for market research purposes to identify interested vendors for the potential requirement detailed below. A formal solicitation and performance work statement are not available. Additionally, in accordance with FAR 19.5, Set-Asides for Small Business, the Government will review the information requested in this announcement to determine the type of set-aside (if any) for this requirement, should it come to fruition. The US Geological Survey (USGS), Upper Midwest Environmental Science Center has a potential need for a backpack electrofishing unit that has the ability to allow the user to capture sea lamprey ammocoetes. The backpack electrofishing unit shall have a fully adjustable rate control that is easily and quickly switched from slow to fast pulse. The very specific bursted pulse train is the most effective at drawing ammocoetes from their burrows. The switching shall be done very quickly in order to ensure successful capture of the ammocoetes as they try to swim away to avoid capture. The unit shall have two sets of fully adjustable rate outputs controlled by two switches on the anode pole. Depressing the lower anode switch on the anode pole activates the slower rate and depressing the upper switch activates the faster rate. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 334419 Other Electronic component Manufacturing and the size standard is 750 employees. All business concerns who believe they can provide this equipment should submit the following information no later than 3:00 pm MST on August 24, 2017: 1. A capability statement and literature describing equipment to match the requirement above. 2. Past performance information describing other contracts for the same equipment is listed above. Past performance information should be submitted for equipment provided within the last three years and include: project title, location, contract/subcontract dollar value, type of contract, and overall performance rating received. 3. Small business status of vendor (8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, etc.) 4. Point of contact information for vendor and D&B Number. 5. Any other information that will prove the vendor is capable of providing the required equipment. Submissions should be emailed to the attention of Tracy Meeker, at tmeeker@usgs.gov. Responses should be limited to 10 pages (single-sided), via PDF. NOTE: All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary - the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. Materials submitted to the Government for review will not be returned. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. This is not a request for proposals. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on responses received under this announcement. All information contained in the RFI is preliminary as well as subject to modification and is in no way binding on the Government. FAR clause 52.215-3, Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes, is incorporated by reference in this RFI. Responders to this invitation are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding. This RFI will be the basis for collecting information on capabilities available. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes. Proprietary information and trade secrets, if any, must be clearly marked on all materials. All information received in this RFI that is marked Proprietary will be handled accordingly. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract.
