Description
Glen Canyon Power Plant Access Tunnel Inspection Announcement The US Bureau of Reclamation, Glen Canyon Field Division (GCFD), has a requirement for Inspection Services of the Power Plant access tunnel. The work is located at the Glen Canyon Dam, near Page, Arizona, approximately 120 miles North of Flagstaff, Arizona, on Highway 89, and 70 miles east of Kanab, Utah, at Lake Powell. This requirement is being procured in accordance with Parts 12 and 13 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations as a 100% small business set aside. The Bureau of Reclamation intends to issue a competitive solicitation for this requirement. 1.0Project Description: The Power Plant Access tunnel is in use daily. The tunnel is two miles long, 24 ft. high and 22 ft. wide, and slopes down to the Glen Canyon Power plant at approximately 8 percent grade. The host rock for the tunnel is Navajo Sandstone that is partially unlined and partially lined with shotcrete. Tunnel ventilation consists of 15 intersecting adits that open to the canyon wall to the west. These adits provide very little natural light and there is no electrical lighting of any kind in the tunnel. The purpose of the solicitation is to contract for an inspection as described in Table 4.2 of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Tunnel Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and Evaluation Manual. The primary purpose for this inspection level would be to establish an inspection file record for the tunnel and to describe the baseline conditions for comparison during future inspections and assessments. 2.0 NAICS AND SIZE STANDARD: The NAICS code for this project is 488490 ¿ Bridge, Tunnel, Highway Operation with a small business size standard of $7.0. 3.0 SOLICITATION RELEASE DATE: The release date for the final and formal solicitation number R17PS01493 is late August 2017. Interested parties are encouraged to monitor this announcement for updates and the release of the solicitation documents.
