- Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE 1.Solicitation Number: HHS-NIH-NIDA-SSSA-SS-17-627 2.Title: Procurement of Axio Zoom Microscope 3.NAICS Code: 333314 - Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing 4.Size Standard: 500 Employees 5.Description: This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes. No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. This notice is strictly for research and information purposes only. Background: A mission of LCS is to establish a new understanding towards the mechanisms that originate the heart beat and how heart contractility occurs, how they deteriorate with aging or heart diseases, and ultimately to improve the longevity and quality of life of U.S. citizens. To achieve this long-term goal LCS is using rodents and human hearts. Calcium ion plays a pivotal role in insurgence of heart beating and in contraction movements that allow the blood flow throughout the body. A crucial step in this project is to establish a reproducible protocol to make viable human heart preparations suitable for electrophysiological measurements and calcium imaging. High optical resolution stereoscopic microscope is needed to achieve the goals of the project. Purpose and Objectives: This acquisition will allow making of a surgical operations that are the key part of the method developed in LCS to make cardiac preparations from human heart as well the recording of intracellular calcium from sinoatrial node of large animals and humans. Project requirements: Axio ZoomV16 Salient characteristics: Stereo zoom microscope Axio Zoom.V16is the only product in the market that has on Objective slider S/doc Designed to switch between: 1) The stereoscopic observation position and 2) The axial mode position, providing a parallax-free view of the specimen through the stereo microscope's leftor right observation channel. Axio Zoom.V16 achieves a very high numerical aperture in the medium zoom range and allows to get fluorescence brightness in large object fields up to 70 mm, when competitors provide field of view maximum of 37mm in the same optical range. Axio Zoom.V16 is the only stereoscopic microscope that has adapters that adjust the optical performance of microscope lenses to the numerical resolution of the camera. Adapters optimize relationship between resolution and depth of field across the zoom range. Quantity: One (1) Delivery Date: Within 30 days after receipt of order (ARO) Capability statement /information sought. Please provide a capability statement, this includes: •Provide evidence the respondent has performed services. •Provide evidence of similar previous contracts of research of the same magnitude. •Information regarding (a) staff expertise, including their availability, experience, and formal and other training; (b) current in-house capability and capacity to perform the work; (c) prior completed project of similar nature; (d) corporate experience and management capability; and (e) examples of prior completed Government contracts, references, and other related information. Please provide your DUNS number, organization name, address point of contact, and size and type of business (e.g., 8(a), HubZone, etc.,) pursuant to the applicable NAICS code and any other information that may be helpful. One (1) copy of the response is required and must be in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format using 11-point or 12-point font, 8-1/2" x 11" paper size, with 1" top, bottom, left and right margins, and with single or double spacing.
