Intent to Award Notice Sole Source This is a Intent to Award Notice Sole Source to Haldor USA, Inc. numbers are DUNS: 039526299, CAGE Code: 6P1Y8. The ORLocate Sponge Solution uses RFID technology to uniquely and individually identify each surgical sponge and towel and is currently the only solution in the market that BOTH counts and locates these items. Additionally, ORLocate is currently the only solution in the market that can also count and locate RFID tagged surgical instruments. The ORLocate Sponge Solution is intended for use in recording and counting the number of RFID-tagged surgical sponges and other tagged items during surgical procedures. In addition, the product is indicated for providing a non-invasive means of detecting retained RFID-tagged sponges and other tagged items, as an adjunctive detection method to current methods. The ORLocate Sponge Solution uses RFID technology to uniquely and individually identify each surgical sponge and towel and is currently the only solution in the market that BOTH counts and locates these items. ORLocate Sponge Solution 3. Background. The Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center Operating Room current process is to prevent the retention of surgical items (RSIs) in patients undergoing surgical and other invasive procedures. The purchase of the ORLocate Sponge Solution will increase Veteran patient safety and decrease the incidence of retention of surgical items (RSIs). 4. Scope. There is a potential for inaccurate counts with the current variable manual counting practices. Counts for soft goods, sharps, and instruments are performed to account for all items used on the surgical field and to lessen the potential for injury to the Veteran patient because of an RSI. Health care organizations are responsible for employing standardized, transparent, verifiable, reliable practices to account for all surgical items used during a procedure to lessen the potential for Veteran patient harm because of retention. 5. Specific Tasks. The ORLocate Sponge Solution is intended for use in recording and counting the number of RFID-tagged surgical sponges and other tagged items during surgical procedures. In addition, the product is indicated for providing a non-invasive means of detecting retained RFID-tagged sponges and other tagged items, as an adjunctive detection method to current methods. 5.1 Task 1 OR Solution. 5.1.1 Subtask 1 - The ORLocate Sponge Solution provides an intraoperative surgical item management solution including instruments, sponges, disposables and untagged items. ORLocate facilitates counting before, during, and post-surgery as well as RFID tagged item detection and Retained Surgical Item ( RSI ) prevention capabilities. 5.1.2 Subtask 2 -. ORLocates modular architecture enables Haldor to accommodate various needs to provide safe surgical Veteran patient care full intraoperative item management. Deliverables: 5.2 Task 2.
