- NIXON ADMIN SITE LOG CABIN REFURB - Mohave County, AZ This contract requires personnel to inspect, uncover and repair any dry rot or insect damage, prepare, stain and seal exterior log and log-sided surfaces. This is a remote admin site located 65 miles SE of St. George, UT near the Mt. Trumbull and Mt. Logan wilderness areas. Travel time from St. George, UT is estimated to be 2.5-3 hours one way on unimproved county maintained dirt/gravel roads, depending on the size and number of vehicles and trailers/equipment in tow. The site is approximately 7.7 acres and contains 9 buildings, 2 horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, 2 camp units with fire rings, 1 camp unit with utility hookups, a group picnic unit with outdoor grills and tables, an off-grid solar system with batteries and backup generator and electrical distribution system, 3 septic systems, 3 sanitary sewer collection systems, 3 parking lots, a fence, a potable water system supplied from a spring (Nixon Spring) on Mt. Trumbull, 220,000 gallon water storage tanks, a communications tower, a propane distribution system and site roads. The Conference Center and Research Cabin are full log construction. The Fire Station and its Garage, plus the Research Cabin's Storage Shed are log-sided. There is also a Log Ramada. Project activities will occur in and around the Log Ramada and full log and log-sided structures within the fenced and gated admin site. A majority of the exposed log and log-sided surfaces are weathered and in need of re-sealing. The purpose of this project is to restore, prepare and preserve all exposed log and log-sided surfaces at Nixon Ad min Site to prevent damage and maximize the useful life of the buildings.
