Description
Canister Metal Parts (MTPS) Assembly and Canister Base Assembly (Market Survey) The U.S. Army Contracting Command-New Jersey (ACC-NJ), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager Combat Ammunition Systems (PM-CAS), is conducting a market survey to identify capable sources to manufacture and deliver the Canister Metal Parts (MTPS) Assembly and Canister Base Assembly by the below delivery schedule: 400 Canister MTPS Assembly by November 2017 8,021 Canister MTPS Assembly and 8,021 Canister Base Assembly by April 2018 The Canister MTPS Assembly and Canister Base Assembly will support the Load, Assemble, and Pack (LAP) of 155mm Illuminating Projectiles. The purpose of this market survey is to obtain current information on the capability of potential sources to provide these Canister MTPS Assembly and Canister Base Assembly quantities by the required delivery schedule. The Canister MTPS Assembly consists of cylindrical steel tubing with a Nose welded to seal on one end, and three Fins, which are pre-formed and welded to the steel tubing. Additional processing of the Fins is required to roll them against the cylindrical tubing after welding and plating. The Canister Base Assembly is a steel assembly consisting of a cylindrical Base Plate, Swivel Pin, ball bearings and a Disc. The parts are assembled and the Disc is crimped in place to secure the assembly. This assembly is used to seal the final internal contents of the Canister MTPS Assembly and is retained with groove pins. As part of the Canister Loading Assembly, the Canister MTPS Assembly and Canister Base Assembly is designed to carry an Illuminating Candle. When the Canister Loading Assembly is dispensed from a 155mm Projectile, the Fins, which are attached to the Canister MTPS Assembly, are deployed to degrade spin rate prior to dispensing the Illuminating Candle. To be considered as a capable source for this effort, all interested sources must submit the following information: a) Provide evidence of capabilities including an ability to produce the Canister MTPS Assembly and Canister Base Assembly to meet the delivery requirements stated above; b) Manufacturing experience in the Canister MTPS and Canister Base Assembly or similar items within the past 3 years; c) Dscription of facilities, equipment, manufacturing process, personnel (size, experience, specialized skill sets), inspection capability, location, sub-contractors, and environmental compliance as it relates to the above production efforts; d) Provide evidence of Quality Assurance in order to support this production program; e) Provide company name, address, telephone number, email address, technical point of contact, and company size (please specify as either a Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, 8(a) concern, Woman-Owned Small Business, Historically Underutilized Business Zone concern, Veteran-Owned Small Business, or Service-Disabled Small Business). This market survey is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government. All information submitted will be held in a confidential status. All submissions are requested to be made electronically no later than (NLT) five (5) calendar days from the date of this publication by electronic mail to Michael Samra, michael.w.samra.civ@mail.mil. The Government will accept written questions by e-mail ONLY. TELEPHONE INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of the Market Research notice. All information provided will not be returned and will be held in a confidential status. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this market survey.
