Description

This is an award notice for a contract to provide emergency chiller repair services for Building 324 at the Menlo Park location under the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. This contract was awarded as a sole source contract to Paragon Mechanical, Inc. The award was made under the authority of FAR 6.302-2, which allows the VA to make a sole source award when the agency s need for the supplies or services is of such an unusual and compelling urgency that the Government would be seriously injured unless the agency is permitted to limit the number of sources from which it solicits bids or proposals, full and open competition need not be provided for. This authority is appropriate when an unusual and compelling urgency precludes full and open competition, and delay in award of a contract would result in serious injury, financial or other, to the Government. This is an urgent scenario where the internal building temperatures were reaching into the 90 s and that is an unacceptable work condition for the VA employees and patients in the building. The air chiller had to be repaired as soon as possible and we would not have been able to follow the normal competitive process. The point of contract is Michael Hodahkwen. Phone (916) 923-4567.
