Page 1 of 2 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 6, Asheville VAMC intends to award a contract for the purchase of the below. The NAICS code for this requirement is 339112 and business size standard of 1,000 employees. This is not a request for bids, quotes, or proposals. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified businesses. The responses to this announcement will assist in determining the socio-economic set aside if feasible. The Department of Veterans Affairs is required by Public Law 109-461 to give first priority to SDVOSB and VOSB concerns if there should be sufficient firms available to compete under a set aside. If insufficient veteran owned and small business response is received to establish the basis for setting this action aside for other than large business participation then the action will be advertised as full and open competition, in which case, all interested parties responding shall be eligible to bid. The Asheville VA Medical Center, located at 1100 Tunnel Road Asheville NC 28805, is seeking a potential qualified contractor than can provide the following (no gray market items accepted): Requirements / Statement of Work Brachytherapy Seed Products Contractor is required to provide brachytherapy seed products for prostate seed implants to eligible Veterans at the Richmond VA Medical Center, Radiation Oncology Service (114A), 1201 Broad Rock Boulevard, Richmond, VA. Brachytherapy seed products include radioactive seed sources, implant needles, spacers, seed loader, technical and exceptional customer service support. Supplies and services are needed for a period of twelve months from the date of award. Radiation Oncology Service provides prostate seed implants for approximately 100 patients a year at the Richmond VA Medical Center, and is actively pursuing ways to expand the program. Contractor shall supply brachytherapy seed products in-line with the demand of the Richmond VA Medical Center s seed implant program. Contractor will be required to supply preloaded needles and strands with radioactive seeds within five days of order placement, and within two days for loose radioactive seeds orders. Direct shipment from manufacturer is required. Salient Characteristics All seeds need to have concave ends to reduce risk of migration. Palladium 103 (Pd-103) radioactive seeds need to be laser welded with end cups, and lead x-ray marker. Preloaded needles and strands with radioactive seeds need to include: Radiograph Independent assay Certification of seed activity Positive needle and case identification Sterile Packaging Loose seeds need to include: Certification of seed activity Positive case identification Sterile Packaging Pricing for preloaded needles and strands should include needles, spacers, and fee for loading, calibrating, and sterilizing by Contractor. Sterile needles will require a seed stopper (i.e., bone wax) In the event of a cancelled procedure on or before the date of the procedure, the Contractor will provide full credit for returned, unused seeds, with written documentation from physician describing why the procedure was cancelled. Contractor shall be licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to manufacture and ship radioactive seed, and shall maintain all other required state and local certification and/or licenses. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. All information submitted in response to this Sources Sought notice become property of the Government. Interested and capable respondents are requested to provide the information below.
