- SCOPE OF WORK REPLACE TB HVAC UNIT, BUILDING NO. 7 SC1. Work will be performed in building No. 7 in a functioning Medical facility and the Contractor will need to conduct himself accordingly. Building 7 is a multi-story building with large mechanical penthouses. Schedule all work with the Resident Engineer a minimum of two weeks in advance to enable Engineering to make any necessary arrangements. Confine all work in existing areas to the areas and space involved. SC2. Parking shall be limited to established parking lots. Contractors and personnel are not allowed on the grass area unless specifically authorized by the Resident Engineer. U.S. District Court Violations Notices shall be issued for parking violations. The contractor and all employees shall comply with all applicable VA Medical Center fire, safety and traffic regulations. SC3. The Contractor is to field verify all dimensions and existing conditions. SC4. All work is to be performed in accordance with all OSHA, EPA, VA, Federal, State, and local codes and regulations. SC5. No roadway, drainage ditch, pedestrian walk way, or any other service, utility or access to any of the above is to be blocked or rendered unusable for any length of time during this project unless previously approved by the Resident Engineer. SC6. Complete Bid Item 1 in 90 calendar days after award of the contract. SC7. All work, materials, storage of materials and equipment, repair procedures and unforeseen problems or circumstances are to be coordinated with the Resident Engineer. SC8. Work on this project shall not begin until authorized by the Contracting Officer. SC9. The Title Resident Engineer shall refer to the Contracting Officer s Technical Representative located at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center: Engineering Service, at (318) 466-2488. SC10. The scope of the project is to includes, but is not limited to the following: General Project Description The Scope of the project is to replace the TB Air Handling Unit (AHU) in Building 7 Main Hospital. The project includes removal of the existing TB Air Handling Unit and replacing with a new Air Handling Unit, and all associated components including but not limited to air handling unit, duct work, piping, reinsulating of duct work/piping and all controls required for complete working systems. New DDC controls shall be installed to replace the existing hybrid pneumatic-DDC controls. I. MECHANICAL: A. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to replace the existing TB Air Handling Unit(AHU) located in the penthouse on the roof of building 7- Main Hospital with a Daikin Model CAH008GDAC 208volt AHU or equal unit. Include a drain pan piped to the closest drain. Repair or replace insulation of duct work and piping of the unit. Prior to start-up of the unit, strainers must be cleaned and water flow balanced. Equal unit must have the following salient characteristics: 3000 cfm/ steam heating coil 103485btu/hr with 1.5 in pipe connection Chilled water coil 278405 btu/hr with 2 in. pipe connection pleated filter section work light inside of unit NOTE: Existing unit is 87 in. long x 42 in. wide x 38 tall I. CONTROLS: A. New DDC controls will be provided and installed by the contractor and shall be monitored at Central Plant ECC, and shall be connected back to the existing FMS for management, control and monitoring. Existing pneumatic system shall be removed. Includes replacement of existing control valves. II. ELECTRICAL: Provide and install a new VFD for the new AHU. Existing building electrical systems shall be coordinated and modified as required to accommodate new mechanical system components. III. ARCHITECTURAL: Existing architectural systems shall be coordinated and modified as required to accommodate new mechanical system components, duct and piping floor penetrations, modification all to suit new Air Handling Unit layout. IV. STRUCTURAL: Existing structural systems are in acceptable condition. Existing structure shall remain intact, except as required to install new duct or piping penetrations. V. FIRE PROTECTION: Fire Protection work in this project will be related to modifications that will result from installation of new HVAC systems ductwork, piping, etc. VI. PLUMBING AND PIPE FITTING: Plumbing work in this project will be related to modifications that will result from the new air handling unit. Perform and safeguard hot work operations in accordance with NFPA 241 and NFPA 51B. Coordinate with Resident Engineer and/or Facility Safety Officer and Facility Fire Department. Obtain permits from Facility Fire Department at least 1 hour in advance of begin any hot work. - - - E N D - - -
