- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, NJ (NAWCADLKE) intends to award a contract for engineering services to identify obsolescence resolution strategies for crash crane components, on a sole source basis to Lake Shore, Systems, Inc. of Kingsford, MI, 49802. The USN currently uses crash cranes for crash and salvage functions on the flight deck of aircraft carriers (CVN) and other air cable ships (LHA, LHD). The cranes were originally procured in 1986 from Lake Shore Systems, Inc and many of the major components are obsolete. This procurement is for a systematic engineering analysis that identifies obsolescence resolution strategies for the following components: P/N NSN Nomenclature 3075AS288-1 01-436-8572 PLANETARY DRIVE, TRAVEL 1741AS145-1 01-436-8552 PLANETARY, MAIN HOIST 1764AS128-1 01-436-7105 PLANETARY DRIVE, MAIN HOIST 1741AS389-1 01-436-9575 PLANETARY DRIVE, TRAVEL 3075AS212-1 01-437-1195 PLANETARY DRIVE, COUNTERWEIGHT 1764AS127-1 01-436-7073 PLANETARY DRIVE, LUFF HOIST 1741AS392 -1 01-436-0362 AIR HYDRAULIC BRAKE ACTUATOR This can include, but is not limited to: manufacturing, repairing, refurbishing, modernizing, reverse engineering, technical data development, and other related technical assistance. Results of the analysis will be documented and reported to the government with unlimited rights. As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the Crash Cranes, Lake Shore Systems, Inc. is the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the cranes. Lake Shore Systems, Inc. owns the technical data for the crash cranes and the specific obsolete parts identified. NAWCADLKE intends to award this contract under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (C)(1), as implemented in FAR 6.302-1. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, the Government will consider all responses received to this notice. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation will be available for this procurement.
