- Description
- Provides answers to frequently asked questions on how to submit a historical artifact for display at DARPA 60th anniversary. On the occasion of its 60 th Anniversary in 2018, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is developing plans for events that will recognize the six decades of DARPA's technological achievements. As a part of these plans, DARPA is seeking to identify historical artifacts related to or derived from DARPA-funded work for use as a part of a temporary exhibit highlighting the development of advanced technologies across diverse technical areas and the broader impact those technologies have had across the military and society. DARPA may prominently feature the exhibit at events in 2018 highlighting the Agency's anniversary. In addition, DARPA will photograph and document the individual artifacts for inclusion as a part of a larger digital archive of DARPA's history. DARPA is particularly interested in participation from Agency alumni, transition partners, industry, academia, museums, and private citizens. At this time, DARPA is requesting that respondents submit only photographs, descriptions, and the provenance of potential artifacts to consider for inclusion in the exhibit, which could include online formats. Upon review, DARPA may invite respondents to temporarily loan the Agency artifacts for display. DARPA expects that submissions will include prototype devices, period photographs, film footage, documents, and physical models. Details on how to submit items for possible inclusion in the DARPA 60th anniversary exhibit can be found in the attached FAQ. DARPA is the central research and development organization for the Department of Defense. Established in February 1958, DARPA's mission is to maintain the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent technological surprise from harming our national security. The Agency funds high-risk, high-reward technical approaches for improving national security, and accelerates them toward fruition.
