- Description
- Information is requested to determine the market availability of a high-speed filter wheel. The camera is a Nikon with F-Mount input interface and a C-Mount exit interface. This filter wheel must provide an electrical trigger pulse when each filter is in position for recording an image. SYNOPSIS: Disclaimer: THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes - it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service. Further, at this time, the Navy is not seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Respondees are advised that the U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP, if issued. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website. It is the responsibility of the potential offerors to monitor these sites for additional information pertaining to this requirement. BACKGROUND: The Patuxent River Infrared Signature Measurement team (PRISM) collects radiometric measurements of aerial targets for the Navy and other customers. PRISM currently uses C-Mount scientific cameras to measure in the UV and Visible regions. These cameras do not provide the High-dynamic-range features that PRISM's Infrared cameras do. To enhance the functionality of PRISM's UV and Visible capability, a filter wheel is envisioned as a means to capture successive images with variable sensitivity level by including neutral density (ND) filters in the wheel, as well as possibly a few different bandpass filters. PRISM uses F-Mount optics with the c-mount cameras and envisions a filter wheel that will take the place of the F/C Mount adapters currently in use. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Filters 3-6 filter positions, user changeable Trigger Speed At least 30Hz Control Remote control via computer (RS232, Ethernet, other serial interface) Mechanical interface Functions as an F-Mount to C-mount 'adapter' (F-Mount lens, C-mount camera) PURPOSE: Information is requested to estimate the quantity of available suppliers, as well as to estimate the cost and lead time of the desired system. RESPONSE REQUIREMENTS: 1. Information on alternative solutions and similar systems is also requested. 2. All responses should include potential sources for products or services. 3. Budgetary estimates and delivery schedules for orders placed Oct 1 are requested but not required. 4. Interested parties are requested to submit responses in Microsoft Word for Office 2010, Times New Roman 12 font, and are due no later than _27 OCTOBER 2017 by 1400_EST. Responses shall be submitted via e-mail only to chris.a.robertson.ctr@navy.mil & mike.falco@navy.mil. 5. The response shall include the following as a minimum: a) Name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail of designated point of contact. b) Business type (large business, small business, small disadvantaged business, 8(a)-certified small disadvantaged business, HUBZone small business, woman-owned small business, very small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business) based upon North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 333314-Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing. "Small Business Concern" means a concern, including its affiliates that is independently owned and operated, not dominant in the field of operation in which it is bidding on Government contracts, and qualified as a small business under the criteria and size standards in 13 CFR part 121. Please refer to Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR 19 for additional detailed information on Small Business Size Standards. POINT OF CONTACT: Mike Falco Phone: 301-342-0143 E:mail: mike.falco@navy.mil THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY to identify sources that can provide Range Support Services. The information provided in the RFI is subject to change and is not binding on the Government. The Navy has not made a commitment to procure any of the items discussed, and release of this RFI should not be construed as such a commitment or as authorization to incur cost for which reimbursement would be required or sought. All submissions become Government property and will not be returned.
