- Description
- Redacted J&A The Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) awarded a contract on a sole-source basis with Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (LMRMS) (CAGE 56232), located in Uniondale, NY, a division of Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMCO), in order to provide the following efforts in support of the TRIDENT II Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Navigation Subsystem: (1) United States (U.S.) and United Kingdom (U.K.) Fleet Support; (2) U.S. and U.K. Trainer Systems Support; (3) U.S. and U.K. SSP Shipboard Integration (SSI) Training Curricula Design/Development support; (4) refurbish and recertify the Navigation Subsystem during Engineering Overhauls of 4 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBN), and; (5) Test Equipment, Spares, Tools and Materials for the Navigation Subsystem. This effort is inextricably linked and is a direct follow-on to SSP contract N00030-16-C-0002 with LMRMS. The contract contains both U.S. and U.K. sponsored efforts starting in FY 2018, with optional line items available starting in FY 2019. As the design agent, LMRMS is the only known source with the requisite design background, system knowledge and operational experience relative to the TRIDENT II Navigation Subsystem capable of providing the required efforts within existing technical, cost and fleet schedule constraints. The attached Justification and Approval provides auhtority to award this as a sole-source effort. The contract will also include an option provision to increase the level-of-effort (term) line items up to 30%.
