Description
Introduction This is a PRESOLICITATION SYNOPSIS ; this is not a SOLICITATION announcement ; thus this synopsis neither solicits for proposals or bids and contracts will not be awarded based on this synopsis. The purpose of this synopsis is to alert the public that the Maritime Administration (MARAD), which is an operating administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), intends to procure a contractor to provide Medical, Dental, Mental Health Care Professional Staff, Administrative Support Staff and Emergency Medical Services Supervision for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Midshipmen Kings Point, NY. Background/Scope of Work The Code of Federal Regulations, 46 CFR 310.62 requires Midshipmen at the USMMA to receive limited medical and dental care. The healthcare provided will use an appropriate contractor healthcare personnel, equipment and supplies that can be reasonably made available on site at the USMMA Office of Health Services (OHS The U. S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) seeks to provide Healthcare professionals (Medical, Dental, Mental), Administrative Support staff and Emergency Medical Services for the Midshipmen. The medical/dental staff will examine, diagnose, and render invasive or non-invasive intervention and care for an estimate of 1000 midshipmen/students (male: 916 and female: 135). Period of Performance The Health Care services contract will be issued Base Year (2017-2018). Four (4) Option Years (2018-2022) will be available upon concurrent agreement between the contractor and the Government. Contract Type Firm Fixed (FFP) Contract Location - New York Based on the non-emergency and emergency services that will be provided for the Marine Cadets, the contractor must be local ( less than 30 minutes and with-in a 30-mile drive time radius to and from the USMMA campus. In case of emergencies, the contractor must have the shortest distance of travel which is 15-minutes ). Release Date of the Solicitation A request for proposals (RFP) will be issued on or around October 16, 2017.
