- Description
- DoD Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) is partnering with the C5 Consortium to hold an Industry Day which will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 9:00am at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC. The purpose of the Industry Day is to identify possible collaboration and business opportunities to modernize DoD Travel. The Department is considering transitioning to a secure, efficient, and effective end-to-end travel solution that includes Travel Management Company (TMC) services supported by travel and expense management technology. This solution must be able to book travel, manage travel related expenses, and initiate travel-related financial transactions. The Department will use an iterative implementation, based on agile processes, to ensure rapid deployment of capability. The first iteration will focus on Temporary Duty (TDY) Business Travel in the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), setting the stage for further capability expansion to a broader set of travel requirements. The Department is interested in reducing overhead costs for travel transactions and lowering overall travel cost per trip by empowering travelers to make travel decisions that benefit their organizations. To address overhead costs, the Department seeks to minimize customization, while enhancing flexible configuration of systems by aligning travel policies with standard industry practice, but without negatively affecting usability, auditability, compliance, or security. The day will be spent reviewing the travel service requirements and the procurement process, answering any questions from vendors that are interested in the opportunity. Following the main presentation (including question and answer opportunity) and lunch, there will be time allotted for one-on-one question and answer sessions. Prior commitment to consortium membership is not required to attend the Industry Day. Prospective offerors, regardless of consortium membership, are encouraged to attend. Interested parties may obtain further details and register regarding the Industry Day from C5 at https://www.regonline.com/C5IndustryDay. Formalized membership to the consortium will be required to respond to the requirement. This is not a Request for Proposals or Request for Quote. It is for planning purposes only. A contract award will not be made from this announcement. The purpose of this announcement is to provide industry with advanced notification of the Government's intent.
