FAR Clauses. U.S. COAST GUARD IS SOLICITING THE FOLLOWING: 17108_TAB_0917_754 WORK ITEM 1: Sea Water Inlet Pipe Repairs 1. SCOPE 1.1 Intent. This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to perform piping repairs to the seawater piping in Aft Main Machinery Room. 1.2 Government-furnished property. None. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. The Contractor shall conform to all requirements specified in SFLC Std Spec 0000 and in this item, as applicable, during the performance of this work item. 3.1.1 CIR. None. 3.1.2 Tech Rep. Not Applicable 3.1.3 Protective measures - general. The Contractor shall furnish and install all protective coverings to seal off and protect all non-affected vessel's components, equipment, and spaces in the vicinity of the work area against contamination during the performance of work. Upon completion of work, the Contractor shall remove all installed protective measures, inspect for the presence of contamination, and return all contaminated equipment, components, and spaces to original condition of cleanliness. 3.1.4 Interferences. The Contractor shall handle all interferences in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.5 (Interferences). • Cofferdam. This work item requires installation of a cofferdam 3.1.5 Welding and allied procedures shall be in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0740 3.1.6 Contractor shall follow references CG 750-WMSL-505-013, CG 750- WMSL-520-010 and CG 750- WMSL-520-011 for installation and material details. NOTE During the performance of this work any leakage in excess of 100 gallons entering the bilges will require commercial services for removal and must be treated as oily waste water. 3.1.7 Security access. Complete all forms and submit in accordance with supplied WMSL ACCESS GUIDE at least 14 days prior to arrival on site. Use info applicable for CGC JAMES when filling out forms. 3.2 Fabricate and Install cofferdam 3.2.1 Contractor shall fabricate and install a cofferdam (blank cover) over the port and starboard sea chests for Raw Water Pump sea chest. See Coast Guard Drawings 750-WMSL-100-031, 750-WMSL-101-030 and 750-WMSL-801-004 for guidance. 3.2.2 Contractor shall provide the services of a Commercial Dive service to install the cofferdams and to remove once Sea Water Pipe repairs are complete. 3.2.3 Cofferdam fabrication and installation shall be accordance with the NAVSEA S0600-AA-PRO-160. 3.3 Number 1 MPDE S/W Suction, gauge line repair. Contractor shall remove ½" globe valve 1-MSW-V-009 from 8" seawater supply pipe to MPDE. Remove broken section of ½" pipe from the 8" pipe by cutting or grinding to remove the ½" Boss fitting. Use section of pipe and valve for template purposes as needed. NOTE Piping for Root valve 1-MSW-V-009 is broken. ½" boss fitting is currently plugged with wood plug to contain possible leaks. ¼" Ni-CU gage line is still attached to the broken pipe, valve and mounting hanger. 3.3.1 Contractor weld new boss fitting. Contractor shall use existing section of pipe, elbow, fittings and valve for template purposes as needed. Renew fittings, root valve and piping. See CG Dwg WMSL 750-520-010 for complete part specifications. • Pipe ½"dia 90-10 CU-NI class 200 • ½" globe valve 1-MSW-V-009 • ½ Tailpiece • Union nuts • O-rings and retaining rings. • Reduction tail piece ½ x ¼ • ¼" OD tubing as needed (up to 24 linear feet) Ni-CU. 3.4 Pipe hangers. Furnish, fit, and install new pipe hangers in accordance with MSS SP-58. 3.5 Touch-up preservation, general. The Contractor shall prepare and coat all new and disturbed exterior and interior surfaces, as applicable, to match existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, paragraph 3.1.13 (Touch-ups and minor coating repairs.) 3.6 Leak test. In the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector, after completing all authorized mechanical (i.e. threaded, bolted, etc.) joint repairs, the Contractor shall test the seawater cooling system's operation using the system fluid at normal operating pressure. Ensure zero visible leakage from or deformation of mechanical parts by repairing all leaks and discrepancies. Submit a CFR. 4. NOTES This section is not applicable to this work item.
