- The Army Contracting Command Rock Island (ACC-RI) is seeking sources that can provide the following item: Flexible Packaging System for Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW). The NAICS code for this requirement is 314910. The applicable small business size standard is 500 employees. The flexible packaging system will be used to store and ship LLRW. The offered Flexible Packaging System must meet the following characteristics: 1. Design, materials and construction of the packaging system shall meet the general design requirements of 49CFR173.410 2. Must be certified as an IP-2 package 3. Fabricated from a Woven Polypropylene (WPP) Fabric with a minimum of 7.5 oz outer shell 4. Center pick lifting straps which finish approximated 3' above the package, with a tolerance of +/- 3" 5. Packages shall be designed to provide a 6000 LB Safe Loading Weight, with a minimum Safety Factor of 5 to 1 6. Dimensions shall be 3' X 3' X 3' with a tolerance of +/- 3" 7. The integrity of the containment shall not be impaired if the package is exposed to ambient temperatures ranging from -40 ºC (-40 ºF) to +55 ºC (131 ºF) Delivery of this item will be to Crane Army Ammunition Activity, Crane, IN or Tooele Army Depot, Tooele, UT. Respondents to this Sources Sought announcement should provide the following information: 1. This notice is for planning purposes only and does not constitute an Invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals, a Solicitation, a Request for Quotes, or an indication the Government will contract for the items contained in this announcement. This request is not to be construed as a commitment on the part of the Government to award a contract, nor does the Government intend to pay for any information submitted as a result of this request.
